Abstract. Fathoni A, Hudiyono S, Cahyana AH, Ilyas M, Purnaningsih I, Agusta A. 2023. Anticandidal and antioxidant potencies of endophytic fungi associated with Tinospora crispa. Biodiversitas 24: 2547-2555. Natural products including fungi, have opportunities for medicinal uses as anticandidal agents. This study aimed to investigate the activities isolated from Brotowali (Tinospora crispa (L.) Miers ex Hook.fil. & Thomson) using disc diffusion, thin layer chromatography (TLC) dot-blot, microdilution methods. Eighty extracts were screened activity against Candida albicans (C.P.Robin) Berkhout antioxidants 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radicals. Disc diffusion results showed that 38 had an inhibition zone diameter (IZD) 7.00±00 18.1± 0.29 mm 4 minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values 32-64 µg/mL (strong, MIC<100). The TLC dot-blot 23 8 very strong 50% (IC50) 7.76±0.77 25.54±1.37 µg/mL, while index (AAI) ranged 2.01±0.10 6.64±0.63 (very strong, AAI>2). Results Pearson correlations coefficient between total phenolic content (TPC) value AAI value, revealed there was a low correlation, correlation IZD MIC has moderate negative (the r 0.332, -0.673, respectively (P<0.01). Purification bioactive compounds is necessary, T. can serve potential source natural

Endophytic fungi associated with Australian orchids

Australia is rich in orchid flora with over 1000 native species currently recorded. A significant proportion of Australia’s terrestrial orchids are critically endangered, endangered or threatened. Threats to many orchid species include habitat destruction, degradation and fragmentation from increased urbanisation, overgrazing, altered fire regimes and unfortunately, excessive collecting by orch...

New reports of endophytic fungi associated with cherry (Prunus avium) and sour cherry (Prunus cerasus) trees in Iran

Endophytic fungi constitute a remarkable multifarious group of microorganisms live within plants tissues without causing any obvious negative effect. Endophytic fungi have been found in every plant species examined to date. During an investigation on endophytic fungi, 123 fungal isolates were obtained from healthy twigs and leaves of cherry (Prunus avium) and sour cherry (P. cerasus) trees in I...

Title Endophytic fungi associated with leaves of Betulaceae inJapan

Diversity and species composition of endophytic fungi on leaves of 11 tree 10 species in Betulaceae were studied, with reference to climatic, tree species, and seasonal 11 variations. A total of 186 fungal isolates were obtained from 190 leaves collected in a 12 subalpine, a cool temperate, and a subtropical forest in Japan and were divided into 46 13 operational taxonomic units (OTUs) accordin...

Anticholinesterase inhibitory activity of quaternary alkaloids from Tinospora crispa.

Quaternary alkaloids are the major alkaloids isolated from Tinospora species. A previous study pointed to the necessary presence of quaternary nitrogens for strong acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory activity in such alkaloids. Repeated column chromatography of the vine of Tinospora crispa extract led to the isolation of one new protoberberine alkaloid, 4,13-dihydroxy-2,8,9-trimethoxydibenzo...

Isolation, identification and biodiversity of endophytic fungi o Thymus

Endophytes are considered as an important source of bioactive natural products because thesemicroorganisms are able to occupy unique biological niches and grow in non-ordinaryenvironments. Therefore, endophytic fungi of medicinal plants can be developed for medicinalapplications. On the other hand, medicinal properties of plant can be ascribed to its endophyticfungi. Thymus sp. is widely used a...
